This long weekend has been a time to reflect on those who have selflessly contributed to Australian society. The Australia Day Honours list has once again seen many recognised for their work in the community and for service to their country.
It is these people that form the backbone of our community. They are able to draw a community together for the better good.
In 2010 we published the first book in our Aussie Heroes series, Dame Nellie Melba. Since then Aussie Heroes that have graced the front covers of our books include Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop, Professor Fred Hollows and Mary MacKillop, Australia’s First Saint. This year we will be publishing Caroline Chisholm’s story. Each one of these heroes has made a worthy and formative contribution to Australian society. In many cases work is still being done on their behalf as their lives continue to influence others.
The Aussie Heroes series aims to inspire children with the lives of people who, in difficult circumstances, have supported others, drawing attention to the plight of those in need.
